Les has finally decided to part with a bass from his private collection. The bass is the 18th bass from the Imperial line to be produced by Pachyderm Basses.
Nicknamed "Wally-Nut #1", this bass was completed at the end of 2023, and toured with Les on Sessanta 2024.
"Wally-Nut #1" gets its name because of the bookmatched Claro Walnut top of the body and bookmatched Flamed Big Leaf Maple on the back, creating a striking contrast in both appearance and resonance. The neck is carved from Flamed Hard Rock Maple and reinforced with carbon fiber and a dual-action truss rod, ensuring exceptional stability and performance. Black Maple veneers provide elegant lamination accents between the body and neck.
The fingerboard is made of rich West African Ebony, complemented by West African Ebony control knobs and tactile LED side dot position markers for precision in any lighting condition. The peghead is adorned with Claro Walnut laminations and the signature Bronze Pachyderm Medallion inlay. Bocote wood is used for the pickguard, truss rod cover, and battery cover, further enhancing the instrument’s detail.
Equipped with Les' signature active “Pachyderm Gold” EMG pickups, Wally-Nut #1 delivers a powerful, articulate tone. Controls include volume, LED dimmer, and a momentary button for expressive versatility. Hardware includes Sperzel locking tuners in black, a Kahler 2400 Series Professional tremolo bridge, EVO Gold jumbo fretwire, a graphite nut, and Schaller S-Locks for reliable strap security. With subtle wear from being out on the road, it is finished in a smooth clear satin polyurethane oil and is delivered in a Gator Pro-Go Series gig bag.
